How to Brew Iced Sencha / Cold Brew Sencha

Sencha green tea isn’t just perfect served hot; it’s equally refreshing when transformed into a chilled sencha.

There are two ways to craft iced version of Sencha green tea. First, brew it as you would do for hot sencha, then allow it to cool down and add ice cubes to it. Alternatively, opt for the cold brew method if you would like to enjoy the sweetness and umami of high quality Sencha without bitterness. Below is the second approach using Sencha tea bags.

Equipment:

  1. 1L water bottle.

Ingredients:

  1. 3 – 4 Sencha Teabags.
  2. 1L filtered water.

Instructions:

  1. Put 1L filtered water into a water bottle.
  2. Add 3 – 4 green teabags into the bottle. Gently shake the bottle.
  3. Let it steep for 2-3 hours in the fridge.
  4. Pour the tea into a glass, add some ice cubes if needed.

Notes:

  • You can prepare the bottle at night and keep it in the fridge overnight to have it in the morning.
  • The prepared iced green tea can stay fresh upto 4 days if refrigerated.
  • You can add lemon slices or mint leaves for extra flavour.
