Equipment:
- Small Tea Strainer
- Tea Spoon (Chashaku)
- Bamboo Whisk (Chasen) , Milk Frother etc.
- Bowl or mug
- Glass
Ingredients:
- Approx. 4g Matcha powder (4 Chashaku spoon or 2 teaspoon)
- 1.5 cups Cold Milk
- 4 Tablespoons Hot Water
- 2 Teaspoons Caster Sugar/ Syrup/Sugar Free/Honey etc
- Ice cubes
Instructions:
- Sift approx. 4g of matcha powder through a tea strainer into a mug/bowl.
- Add some hot water and mix well to make a smooth matcha paste.
- Pour the rest of hot water and whisk until no lumps remain.
- Stir in 2 teaspoons of sugar ( or any sweetener of your choice) and mix well. Set aside.
- Add lots of ice cubes to a glass and pour 1.5 cups of cold milk to it.
- Pour the matcha mixture carefully into the glass of milk. Serve immediately!
Notes:
- It Is recommended to use a bamboo whisk (Chasen) for preparing Matcha, as it ensures the powder to dissolve in the water properly without getting clumps. However, there are many alternative methods to make a smooth matcha drink. You could use a small shaker/bottle/mason jar, blender or milk frother. In using any methods, remember to sift the powder beforehand and also to mix till you see a decent layer of form at the top.
- You can substitute the regular milk with Low Fat Milk, Soya Milk, Almond Milk etc.
